It is an ancient belief widespread in various areas of the world: ladybugs bring good luck. But where did this belief originate?
First, the good reputation of ladybugs depends a lot on their appearance: all those dots on the red wings (the elytra) make them seem more "nice" and rarer than other brown or black insects.
In Hebrew, they are called "little horse of Moses" or even "little messiah", while in Turkish, and look a bit, their name means "lucky insect".
Red, in its various shades, has always been considered a color that indicates positivity, passion, strength, courage and luck.
