How are you all? I hope you all are safe and doing great. Today after a long time, I am here with a delicacy that is not only tasty but healthy. We get a rich amount of magnesium and iron.
So without wasting time, let me show you how I prepared red lentil fritters.
1.Red lentils:- 100g.
2.Green chilies:- 4-5(can adjust according to your taste).
4.Egg-1no. optional(vegetarians can skip).
5.Refined oil:- As per requirement(for deep fry).
6.Salt- To taste.
7.Turmeric- A pinch.
2.whole cumin-1/2 tsp.
4.Dried red chilis-2no.
5.Onion-1 medium(finely chopped).
6.Cumin powder-1 tsp.
7.coriander powder-1 tsp.
8.Kashmiri red chili powder-1 tsp.
9.Ginger powder-1 tsp.
11.Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp.
12.Sugar- According to taste. (optional)
13.Clarified butter-1 tbsp.
14.Garam Masala powder-1/4 tsp.
STEP1- One day before night take a bowl and wash red lentils a couple of times until you get clean water coming out from the lentils.
Then soak it under sufficient water for the whole night(you can soak lentils under warm water for 3-4 hours if you want to make the recipe on the same day).
STEP2- The next day remove excess water with the help of a strainer. Now transfer the soaked lentil to a jar of the mixer(do not add any water). Add green chilis and make a coarse paste.
STEP3-Transfer the coarse lentil paste to a bowl. Add chopped onions, egg, salt, and turmeric. Mix all ingredients well with a clean hand.
STEP4- Place a wide mouth vessel on medium flame. Add sufficient oil for deep frying fritters.
Once the oil becomes hot with a spoon, place a small number of lentils mixed into the oil.
Fry fritters until they become golden brown. TRansfer then fried fritters in a bowl.
STEP5-Take a bowl, add cumin powder, coriander powder, Kashmiri red chili powder, ginger powder, salt, turmeric powder, sugar, and a small amount of water. Mix all spices well with water and set aside.
STEP6- Now remove excess oil from the wide mouth vessel. Add dried red chilis, bay leaf, and cumin seeds and saute for a few seconds.
STEP7- Next add diced potatoes and fry until lightly golden. Now add (step5) spice mixed in the vessel. Mixed spices with potatoes till oil comes out from the sides of the gravy.
STEP8- Now add warm water and mix well. Check salt and sugar at this stage and adjust accordingly.
Cover the vessel and wait until the gravy starts boiling. Next, add fried fritters into the gravy, mix well, and cover the vessel again with a lid.
STEP9-Once potatoes are cooked well, add clarified butter and garam masala and mix the gravy well again.
Now cover the lid and cook for a minute, turn off the flame but do not remove the lid.
STEP10-After 10 minutes transfer the red lentil fritters with gravy to a serving bowl and serve hot with steamed rice or flatbread.
I hope you like the recipe. It is a simple and quick recipe. You can add curd or tomato in the gravy instead of onion. Those are vegetarian.
